The President

The Chairman of IFA is appointed Special Ambassador for International Investment by the French executive council (conseil des ministres). The current Chairman of IFA is Mr. Philippe Favre.

Philippe Favre was appointed Chairman of Invest in France Agency (IFA) in September 2006. IFA is responsible for promoting, prospecting and facilitating international investment in France. It is the national organization responsible for promoting the economic attractiveness of France.

Prior to his appointment as Chairman of IFA, Philippe Favre, aged 46, was chief of staff for the Trade Minister (François Loos, then Christine Lagarde) between 2002 and 2006, and was deputy chief of staff for the Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry.

In 2001, Philippe Favre, was deputy manager of human resources and management for the Department of foreign economic affairs (DREE) at the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry. In 1997 he was responsible for international affairs at the French Trade Ministry.

From 1990 to 1993, he was trade counselor at the French Embassy in the United States (Washington DC), then head of the economic relations sections in Hong Kong from 1993 to 1997 and in Taipei from 1997 to 2001.

Philippe Favre began his career at the Department of foreign economic affairs (DREE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and was responsible for economic relations with the Soviet Union and Central Europe (1987-1990).

Philippe Favre is a graduate of the French National School of Administration (ENA) and qualified at the Political Studies Institute (IEPP) in Paris (1982).

He is a member of the Board of GDF and has been appointed Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor.
