Invest in France Agency (IFA) was established under the New Economic Measures Law of 15 May 2001.

IFA is a public industrial and commercial body (EPIC), placed under the responsibility of the Minister for Economy, Finance and Industry, and the Minister for Regional Development.

The Agency is responsible for promoting, prospecting and facilitating international investment in France. IFA works closely with local authorities.

In order to achieve its objectives of promoting, prospecting and facilitating international investment in France, Invest in France Agency is specifically in charge of:

  • Promoting the French territory to international investors and opinion leaders
  • Prospecting investors and internationally mobile investment projects
  • Acting as a link between investing businesses, local authorities, economic development organizations, government bodies and service providers to facilitate international investment and ensure coherence among site selection bids
  • Monitoring and studying international investment flow and site selection factors.

In order to achieve its objectives, IFA has a central office in Paris (60 staff members) and offices overseas (79 staff members). These offices are part of the French public service, and staff members have private contracts.

IFA has a network of 21 offices overseas (Invest in France Agencies) set up by the Inter-ministerial delegation for regional development and competitiveness (DIACT):

  • 11 offices in Europe
  • 3 offices in North America
  • 7 offices in Asia

IFA has a total budget of 22.2 million euros for 2007.

Invest in France Agencies prospect for international investment and support the investor at every stage of the investment process. IFA overseas offices provide a personalized service and work in the strictest confidence to establish a project that is adapted to the investors’ objectives, in collaboration with the Paris office and its regional partners. IFA is represented in another 30 countries by the French Treasury and Economic Policy General Directorate (DGTPE).

Invest in France Agency is mainly funded by the French government and, to a lesser extent, by services provided to partners.
