The region is strategically located at a crossroads between Africa and Asia, and therefore enjoys easy access to raw materials and various potential markets.
The island is well connected to the rest of the world thanks to its European standard ports, airports and road networks, undersea cable connections (broadband) and satellite services.

Over the past thirty years, economic growth rate (5% per year) has been double the French national average, making the Ile de la Réunion region one of the most dynamic in Europe in terms of job creations per head of population.
By 2025, the region should represent a market of 1 million consumers with spending power and habits on a par with those in Europe.

The Ile de la Réunion region offers many advantages. The region offers a pool of human resources in technology, research and development, with around thirty laboratories (university and other), research organizations (CIRAD, BRGM, IFREMER, IRD…) and a fast-growing ITC sector.
The island’s highly qualified and young manpower offers significant advantages: a rate of absenteeism of less than 2%, productivity at the same level as in France (added value of 49 000 per salaried employee), which is one of the highest productivity rates in the world.
Finally, the Ile de la Réunion offers production costs that are among the lowest in the region for highly automatic unit projects, due to a range of financial incentives that considerably reduce investment and operating costs.
