Located in the southwest of France in the Rhône-Alpes region, between Lyon and Grenoble, the national « Arve Industries » cluster is specialized in several fields, from precision turning (removing material from rods using a cutting tool to manufacture turning components such a screws etc.) to mechatronics (combination of mechanics, IT and electronics in real time).

The cluster has adopted 4 major axes:

  • Create a concentration of European centers of excellence in the area
  • Select and complete innovative projects targeted towards and adapted to industrial issues
  • Raise the profile of the cluster to attract clients and talents
  • Anticipate changes in the sector

Advantages

The Rhône-Alpes region is one of the most dynamic and prosperous regions in Europe (2nd leading region in France after the Ile-de-France). It offers excellent access to the major industrial centers in the north and south of the continent.

The cluster benefits from its close proximity to the Vallée de l’Arve cluster specialized in precision turning and the Haute-Savoie cluster specialized in the field of mechatronics.

Vallée de l’Arve, specialist in precision turning
- 800 SME’s specialized in mechanical sub-contracting
- 2/3 of French jobs in the sector
- Concentration of several professions and fields of expertise : precision turning, cutting, assembly, surface treatment, innovative materials, rectification…

Haute-Savoie, specialist in mechatronics
- 50 leading companies in the mechatronic sector 55,000 industrial jobs
- Very high cover rate of 172% (exports/imports)
- Heavy concentration of research-education
- 5 levels of training
- 500 researchers
