The Indian company Wipro Technologies is prioritizing France as it invests in Europe.
The Indian software giant, headquartered in Bangalore and which already has French research and development facilities in the Sophia-Antipolis technology park, just outside Nice, as well as in Clermont-Ferrand and Toulouse, has just announced the creation of a research and development center in Rennes, thanks to the intervention of the IFA and its regional partners, the Bretagne Economic Development Agency and Idea 35.
Work is already underway at the site, where Wipro Technologies expects to recruit 65 engineers in the next 12 months. The arrival of Wipro in the new Cap Nord facility north of Rennes is in line with the group's desire to settle in cities that already boast recognized expertise in IT. It is also a way for Wipro to get closer to its major customers, which include major telecommunications accounts.
Wipro Technologies already has 200 employees in France and hopes to double this number by 2010-2011. Moreover, the group hasn’t ruled out other opening other regional sites in France if future business opportunities are successful.
