The Lyon Urban Truck & Bus is a dynamic R&D cluster helping to improve urban transportation around the world. Join us for a special presentation, in partnership with the Illinois Technology Association, that will discuss the unique opportunities France is offering international companies through innovative projects shaping the transport systems of the future.

Speakers include Lyon-based specialists in urban transportation and bus & truck technologies:

Keynote speaker: Bernard Favre - Director of Research at Renault Trucks (Volvo Group), and Director of Lyon Urban Truck & Bus research program on Transport systems 
Frederic Miribel - Cleantech Specialist for the Lyon Economic Development Agency (Aderly)
Jean-Pierre Novak - Vice President of Midwest and Texas Operations at Invest in France Agency

Meet the Speakers

Bernard Favre

Mr. Favre started in 1972 as a researcher in acoustics (noise control) at the French Research Transportation Institute. He joined Renault in 1985 to lead a research team on human factors in vehicles. In 1991 he joined Renault Trucks to manage truck and bus R&D activities. He is currently Director of Research at Renault Trucks (Volvo Group) in charge of Advanced Engineering for trucks and Director of the Lyon Urban Truck & Bus Cluster Research program on Transport systems. Bernard holds a PhD and he graduated with a Masters Degree in Science and Engineering from the Ecole des Mines (Paris) and Ecole du Pétrole et des Moteurs (Lyon).

Frederic Miribel

Frederic Miribel holds a Ph.D. in Economics, with publications on the field of agglomeration economics related to cluster effects. He has worked for 5 years as a commercial adviser at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon. He now works as cleantech specialist for the Lyon Economic Development Agency (Aderly—Invest in Lyon), in close connection with two main clusters in Lyon: AXELERA, on chemistry and environment, and Lyon Urban Trucks and Bus Cluster on automotive. He has followed the evolution of the french "pôles de competitivités" and works for their international development.

Jean-Pierre Novak

Jean-Pierre Novak is currently managing the Chicago office of Invest in France. This office is responsible for attracting investment and promoting France as a business friendly environment in the central region of the US (17 states including Midwest and Texas). Jean-Pierre previously held the position of economic attaché at the French Embassy in Berlin (Germany) and commercial attaché at the French Trade Commission in Chicago and Cologne (Germany). Jean-Pierre has an engineering degree in the agro-food industry and also a Master’s degree from the ESSEC business school in Paris.
